Clinic / Didactics
Continuity Clinic Continuity of Care Clinic is the cornerstone of any Osteopathic Family Medicine Residency. Our residents utilize 2 teaching sites for exposure to a wide spectrum of patient populations. Each resident spends ½ day (during OGME-1), or 1 day (during OGME-2 and 3) at each location every week.
Our Primary Care and Specialty Center (PCSC), located inside Summa Western Reserve Hospital, cares for our urban and community-based patients. Recently renovated in 2005, the PCSC offers all diagnostic and therapeutic modalities required by the ACOFP including colposcopy, sigmoidoscopy, and dermatologic procedures. In addition, the PCSC serves as the outpatient center for the Orthopedic and residency programs, which allows for easy multi-specialty and inter-disciplinary patient care.
The Premiere Medical Partners at Hudson Center, located in nearby Hudson, serves those patients living in northern Summit County and surrounding suburbs. Opened in 2007, this setting offers state of the art facilities and equipment, including on-site laboratory, CT scanning, MRI, neurodiagnostic testing, ultrasound, and the 30,000 sq. ft. Summa Health Center at Western Reserve. It is adjacent to the Akron Children’s Hospital in Hudson Emergency Care Center and gives our residents access to pediatric laboratory, radiological services, and over 20 pediatric specialty physician offices.
Continuity Clinic schedules are typically as follows:
- OGME-1 6 patients per ½ day session
- OGME-2 8-10 patients per ½ day session
- OGME-3 10-12 patients per ½ day session
